API 3.1.0: Ports, Voyage Types and Ratings

2026-11-04By Emission+ Team

Our API is now at version 3.1.0. The By Voyage Legs endpoints for EU ETS, FuelEU and UK ETS now tell you where each leg starts and ends, and how the regulation classifies the voyage it belongs to. All changes are additions, so your existing integration keeps working.

Departure and arrival ports

Every voyage leg now includes fromPort and toPort, the UN/LOCODEs of its departure and arrival port (e.g. NLRTM for Rotterdam).

Voyage type and rating

Next to the leg, each entry now has a voyage object for its regulation: euEtsVoyage, fuelEuVoyage or ukEtsVoyage. It contains:

  • type: the voyage type under the regulation, e.g. EU_INNER_VOYAGE, EU_ENTRY_VOYAGE or UK_GB_NI_VOYAGE. The endpoint docs list all types and what they mean.
  • rating: the factor applied to the voyage's emissions (EU ETS, UK ETS) or energy (FuelEU). For example, an EU_INNER_VOYAGE has a rating of 1 and an EU_ENTRY_VOYAGE one of 0.5.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Under these regulations, a voyage generally runs between two ports with a cargo operation, so it can span several legs. Its type and rating are repeated on each of these legs.
  • Both values are optional and may be missing for a leg.
  • Voyage types may change, e.g. due to regulatory changes and clarifications, so please handle unknown values gracefully.

As always, we'd love to hear your feedback!
